The Liebherr Monolith EKB 9471 is a premium built-in refrigerator designed for flush integration into kitchen furniture with inset or overlay door panels. It offers a large 440 litre total volume with spacious refrigerator and BioFresh compartments, intuitive InfinitySwipe touch controls, and advanced features such as InfinitySpring integrated water dispenser, PowerCooling and full-surface InfinityLight LED lighting. It is suitable for households seeking high-capacity refrigeration with flexible storage and precise temperature control.
The appliance is designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel panels or custom panels. The depth of the appliance is 610 mm, so it can be installed in a standard European 610 mm unit or deeper 635 mm cut-outs. Recess dimensions for inset installation are H = 2029 mm and W = 756 mm; for overlay installation H = 2032 mm (plus overlapping of the panel on top) and W = 762 mm (plus overlapping on both sides). The floor must support the weight of the appliance plus food, be level and allow clear ventilation openings.
Door panels can be inset or overlay. Inset door panel dimensions are A = 337 mm, B = 12.5 mm, C = 810 mm; overlay door panel dimensions are A = 343 mm, B = 12.5 mm, C = 822 mm (Dimension A without fitted door handle). Panel thickness must be minimum 16 mm and maximum 30 mm, with maximum panel weight 35 kg. Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
The unit carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge, with material thickness at least 16 mm. Because parts of the recess are visible when the door is opened, a designed finish on visible surfaces is recommended. A decorative trim is included to cover the gap between appliance and fitted unit side walls.
The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height stated. Once positioned in the recess, the appliance is raised from the front using the adjustable feet until it contacts the anti-tipping device. To achieve the minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6 to 8 mm. If a higher plinth panel is required, the adjustable feet can be raised by a maximum of 19 mm.
Monolith appliances must stand for one hour in the installation location before switching on, allowing fluids in the coolant and lubrication system to distribute evenly.
The appliance is ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the grill in the plinth panel must not be obstructed. Spacers included with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air. Optional stainless steel plinth panels (102 mm high) are available in widths matching Monolith models and Side-by-Side combinations; these are assembled using a pre-assembled adhesive joint and have variable position depth.
The appliance must be installed so that doors and handles do not bump into adjoining cupboards, work surfaces, walls or kitchen elements. The door opening angle is set to 115° ex works and can be limited to 90° using a 90° door opening limiter (included) by inserting a peg into the hinge. To prevent collisions, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required for a 90° opening. Other solutions include reducing door panel thickness if above 19 mm, repositioning colliding elements or using a stopper.
For overlay and inset door panel installations, the minimum permitted gap between panels is 3 mm. When planning Side-by-Side configurations in separate units, a dividing wall of at least 16 mm thickness is needed; to avoid handle collisions when doors open in the same direction, a minimum distance of 102 mm is required, and 154 mm when doors open towards the centre with a 90° limiter.
Monolith appliances can be installed Side-by-Side in a single fitted unit or in separate units. A Side-by-Side set is required when spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm. Side-by-Side sets include a sidewall heater to prevent condensation between appliances, metal brackets and screws for connection, and decorative trim to cover the gap (approx. 6–8 mm). No additional mains connection is required for the sidewall heater; a slot is provided on the rear of the appliance. Using a Side-by-Side set increases energy consumption by 0.4 kWh/24h for two units and 0.8 kWh/24h for three units. The sidewall heater must be used if distance between integrated units is less than 102 mm.
When combining three units, different options are possible, including two Side-by-Side sets with or without a carcass side between units; some configurations may lead to door collisions. Recommended widths (W1, W2, W3) are provided for combinations of one, two or three units (for example W1 = 762 mm, W2 = 1219 mm, W3 = 1676 mm).
Appliances fitted with InfinitySpring must be connected to a water supply with water pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply, in an accessible position (not behind the appliance), so the water supply can be stopped if necessary. Connection to the water supply must only be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber.
Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. The IceMaker (if present) is solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with suitable water. If water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended; a filter must also be used where solids such as sand are present in the water. All devices and systems used to supply water must meet regional regulations. All appliances with InfinitySpring have a water filter located in the front section of the appliance base, which must be replaced regularly. An InfinitySwipe alarm indicates when the filter needs replacement.
The appliance must only be operated using alternating current within the permitted voltage and frequency for the country of operation. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible; they must not be located behind the appliance. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or spoiling food due to failures caused by other appliances.
It must not be connected to unearthed sockets, extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters, due to risks of electric shock, overheating or fire. The refrigerant circuit has been checked for tightness and the appliance meets applicable safety regulations. The climate class SN–T allows operation between 10 °C and 43 °C ambient temperature; the appliance must not be operated outside these ranges.
To prevent the appliance from tipping over after installation, the anti-tipping device positioned at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall. The appliance is raised using the adjustable feet until it comes into contact with this device. Secure mounting instructions must be followed carefully.
For this model, optional accessories include:
On stainless steel panels, handle mounting holes are drilled centrally with spacing of 770 mm so the panel can be turned 180° if the door hinge is changed.
The total volume is 440 litres, with 250.5 litres in the refrigerator compartment and 190.3 litres in the BioFresh compartment, measured in accordance with Regulation EU 2019/2016.
The refrigerator temperature can be set between +2 °C and +7 °C. Defrosting is automatic and the appliance includes an Automatic SuperCool function for rapid cooling.
At temperatures slightly above 0 °C with controllable humidity, BioFresh technology helps fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products stay fresh for considerably longer than in a conventional refrigeration compartment. One BioFresh safe can reach −2 °C, ideal for storing fresh fish and seafood or quickly cooling drinks. All BioFresh safes have SoftTelescopic self-closing with gentle cushioning and are illuminated by InfinityBeam LEDs.
The appliance must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar, using only the supplied hose. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose and mains water supply, not behind the appliance. The connection must be made by a trained and licensed plumber, and the water must comply with local drinking water regulations.
The appliance is supplied with a right-hand door hinge, which is reversible. Reversing the door hinge must be carried out by authorised Liebherr Monolith customer service and can be supported by an optional door hinge exchange set for Monolith model combinations.
Yes, Monolith appliances including this model are designed to be set up Side-by-Side with other Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. A Side-by-Side set is required when the distance between integrated units is less than 102 mm. Sidewall heaters prevent condensation between appliances and decorative trim covers the gap between units.
