The Liebherr Monolith EGN 9271 is a 61.0 cm integrated freezer designed for flush installation in premium kitchen units. It offers NoFrost freezing with automatic SuperFrost, InfinityLight LED illumination and SoftSystem door closing. With an automatic IceMaker, FrostSafe drawers on telescopic rails and flexible door racks, it is suited to households wanting convenient, high-capacity frozen food storage with fixed water connection and advanced electronic control.
The floor must be capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model. The floor should be level, and the appliance must be supported or levelled so that ventilation openings remain clear. Recess dimensions must be measured correctly and the power socket positioned correctly. The appliance depth of 610 mm allows installation in standard 610 mm units or 635 mm cut-outs; for inset installation, the custom panel thickness must be added to 635 mm.
When planning the recess, top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick. Because parts of the unit recess are visible when the door is opened, matching finishes with a minimum depth of 76 mm are recommended. Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation with stainless steel panels or customer-specific panels, provided the maximum permitted panel weight of 30 kg for this model is not exceeded.
The thickness of the door panel must be at least 16 mm and no more than 30 mm. For this model, the panel weight must not exceed 30 kg. If a five-piece shaker style panel thinner than the minimum thickness is used, shorter screws than those supplied must be used. Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
The door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor because ventilation takes place entirely via the plinth panel. The grill in the plinth panel must not be obstructed. Adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum appliance height; the height is then raised by turning the feet from the front until the appliance contacts the anti-tipping device. To achieve a 102 mm plinth height, the feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; for higher plinths, the maximum lift is 19 mm.
Liebherr offers 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panels as optional accessories, available in widths from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm to match individual models and Side-by-Side combinations. The plinth can be depth-adjusted and is attached with a pre-assembled adhesive joint.
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. The warm outgoing air must be separated from the fresh incoming air. Spacers included in the scope of supply must be fitted to the appliance and the door to ensure correct airflow. The grill in the plinth panel must remain unobstructed at all times.
The doors, including handles, must not collide with adjoining walls or kitchen elements. The door opening angle is set at 115 ° ex works. A 90 ° door opening limiter (supplied) can be installed by inserting a peg into the hinge. To prevent collisions with adjacent units at a 90 ° opening angle, a minimum spacing of 76 mm must be provided. Possible solutions to avoid interference include reducing door panel thickness (if more than 19 mm), repositioning nearby elements or using a stopper.
The minimum gap between door panels is 3 mm. For Side-by-Side installations with separate carcasses, a dividing wall with a minimum thickness of 16 mm is required; to avoid handle collisions when both doors open in the same direction, 102 mm is necessary, and for openings towards the centre with a 90 ° limiter, 154 mm is required.
Monolith appliances may be installed Side-by-Side in the same fitted unit or in separate units. If the distance between appliances is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set must be used. These sets include sidewall heaters to prevent condensation between appliances, metal brackets, screws and decorative trim to cover the gap (approximately 6–8 mm). The sidewall heater requires no additional mains connection and increases energy consumption by 0.4 kWh/24 h for two units and 0.8 kWh/24 h for three units.
The appliance must be operated with alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the relevant country. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible; they must not be located behind the appliance. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
There is a risk of fatal electric shock if the appliance is connected to unearthed sockets. The appliance must not be connected using extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters, as this poses overheating and fire risks and may damage control electronics. The refrigerant circuits have been checked for tightness and the appliances meet applicable safety regulations.
For models with an IceMaker, including this freezer, water connection work must not be carried out while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply, not behind the appliance, so that the water can be shut off if needed. The connection to the water supply must be made by a trained and licensed plumber.
Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. The IceMaker is intended solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must be supplied only with suitable water. Monolith appliances with IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used. If local water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended; a filter must be used if solids such as sand are present in the water.
All devices and systems feeding water to the appliance must comply with applicable regional provisions. The water filter is located in the front section of the appliance base and must be replaced regularly; an InfinitySwipe alarm reminds the user to replace the filter. All repairs and work on the IceMaker must only be carried out by customer service staff or other trained individuals. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by devices or water pipes located between the solenoid valve and the water supply.
The appliance is intended for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for producing ice (where equipped). The climate class SN–T means the appliance is designed for ambient temperatures from 10 °C to 43 °C. It must not be operated outside these ambient temperature ranges. Before switching on after installation, the appliance should stand in position for one hour so that the fluids in the coolant and lubrication system can distribute evenly.
To prevent the appliance tipping over after installation, the anti-tipping device at the base must be secured to the floor or wall. The appliance is raised using the adjustable feet until it contacts the anti-tipping device. Details are provided in the installation instructions, and this requirement applies to all Monolith appliances.
The climate class for refrigerators and freezers in this range is SN–T. This means the appliance is designed for operation in ambient temperatures from 10 °C to 43 °C. It must not be operated outside these ranges.
No. The freezer uses NoFrost technology, which freezes food with cooled re-circulated air and removes humidity. This keeps the freezer compartment ice-free and removes the need for manual defrosting.
The IceMaker requires a fixed 3/4' water connection with water pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose supplied with the appliance must be used, and installation must be carried out by a trained and licensed plumber. A shut-off valve must be installed in an accessible position (not behind the appliance).
Yes. The EGN 9271 is supplied with a left-hand door hinge which is reversible. Reversals must be performed by authorised Liebherr Monolith customer service using an appropriate hinge exchange set.
The SuperFrost function quickly lowers the freezer temperature to help preserve vitamins when freezing food. Once the freezing process is complete, it automatically switches back to normal operation after a maximum of 65 hours, which also helps save electricity.
The appliance should only be installed next to Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. A Side-by-Side set is required if the distance between appliances is less than 102 mm. Adequate spacing (at least 76 mm where a 90 ° door limiter is used) must be provided to prevent doors and handles colliding with adjacent units or walls.
