The Liebherr Monolith EKB 9671 is a large-capacity built-in refrigerator designed for flush integration into kitchen cabinetry. With a total volume of 542 litres, BioFresh and BioFresh-Plus compartments, InfinityLight LED lighting and the InfinitySpring integrated water dispenser, it offers flexible, high-performance food storage. InfinitySwipe electronic controls, PowerCooling and SmartDevice connectivity support convenient operation, while detailed planning information enables precise installation in a wide range of kitchen layouts.
The floor must be level and capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model net capacity. Recess dimensions must be correctly measured and the power socket located in the correct position and easily accessible. The top and carcass walls should line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick.
Because the recess is partially visible when the door is opened, the inside should match the unit surface at the top and sides and have a minimum depth of 76 mm. Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm and an appliance depth of 610 mm, allowing installation in standard 610 mm or deeper 635 mm cut-outs.
The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the stated minimum height. The appliance height is raised by turning the adjustable feet from the front until it contacts the anti-tipping device. To achieve the minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the feet must be raised by 6 to 8 mm. If a higher plinth panel is required, the feet can be raised by up to 19 mm.
For inset installation, door panel dimensions are 400 mm (A), 12.5 mm (B) and 962 mm (C). For overlay installation, door panel dimensions are 406 mm (A), 12.5 mm (B) and 975 mm (C). Dimension A is without a fitted door handle. Panel thickness must be between 16 mm and 30 mm, with a maximum panel weight of 40 kg. If a five-piece shaker style panel thinner than the minimum is used, shorter screws than those supplied must be used.
Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the plinth panel grille must not be obstructed, as Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth. Spacers supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air. Liebherr offers 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panels in widths matched to Monolith models and Side-by-Side combinations.
To prevent the door and handle from colliding with adjoining walls or kitchen elements, a minimum spacing of 76 mm must be included for a door opening limited to 90°. The door opening angle is 115° ex-works and can be limited to 90° by inserting the supplied peg into the hinge. The minimum permitted gap between panels is 3 mm.
For Side-by-Side installations, if the distance between appliances is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set is required. In back-to-back door positioning with doors opening towards the centre and a 90° limiter, a minimum dividing wall width of 154 mm is required to avoid handle collisions.
Monolith appliances can be installed individually, Side-by-Side within a fitted unit, or Side-by-Side in separate units. A Side-by-Side set includes a sidewall heater, metal brackets, screws and decorative trim to cover the gap (approximately 6–8 mm) between appliances. The sidewall heater does not require an additional mains connection. Use of the Side-by-Side set increases energy consumption by 0.4 kWh/24 h for two units and 0.8 kWh/24 h for three units.
If the dividing wall between separate units is less than 102 mm thick, a Side-by-Side set must be used. For combinations of three units, configurations with two Side-by-Side sets and optional dividing walls (minimum 16 mm) are possible, noting potential door collisions depending on spacing.
Ventilation is entirely via the plinth panel. The plinth grille must remain unobstructed. The supplied spacers must be used to separate warm exhaust air from incoming fresh air, ensuring reliable operation.
The appliance must be operated with alternating current only, within the permitted voltage and frequency for the country of use. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected according to regulations, not located behind the appliance and must remain easily accessible for disconnection if necessary. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
Do not connect the appliance to unearthed power sockets. Do not use extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters, as these may cause overheating, fire hazards or damage to control electronics. The refrigerant circuit has been checked for tightness and the appliance meets applicable safety regulations.
Appliances fitted with InfinitySpring must be connected to a water supply with a pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supplied hose must be used. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose and mains water, in a position that is not behind the appliance, so that the water supply can be stopped if required.
Connection to the water supply must only be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber, and water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. If the water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended. A filter should be used if solids such as sand are present in the water. The InfinitySpring water filter is located in the front section of the appliance base and must be replaced regularly; an InfinitySwipe alarm indicates when replacement is due.
All repairs and work on InfinitySpring must only be undertaken by customer service employees or other trained individuals. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by devices or water pipes installed between the solenoid valve and the water supply.
The appliance is intended for refrigerating and storing food and for making ice where applicable. It is designed for operation within the climate class SN–T, corresponding to ambient temperatures from 10 °C to 43 °C. It must not be operated outside the specified ambient temperature range to ensure optimal cooling performance.
To prevent tipping, the anti-tipping device at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall. The appliance should be left to stand for one hour at the installation location before switching on so that fluids in the coolant and lubrication system distribute evenly.
The total volume is 542 litres, comprising 308.0 litres in the refrigerator compartment and 234.8 litres in the BioFresh compartment.
The refrigerator temperature can be set between +2 °C and +7 °C. BioFresh-Plus technology also allows temperatures slightly above 0 °C and down to −2 °C in the dedicated BioFresh safe.
InfinitySpring is supplied via a fixed 3/4' water connection using the hose delivered with the appliance. A replaceable water filter located in the front section of the appliance plinth ensures a constant supply of pure water and must be replaced regularly.
Yes. The EKB 9671 is supplied with a right-hand door hinge that is reversible. Door hinge reversal must be carried out by authorised Liebherr Monolith customer service using the appropriate door hinge exchange set.
The climate class is SN–T, so the appliance is designed for ambient temperatures from 10 °C to 43 °C. It should not be operated outside this range to maintain optimal cooling performance.
The Monolith is supplied with a SmartDeviceBox that connects the appliance to a smartphone or tablet, allowing remote activation of settings and functions. Push messages can report events such as open doors. SmartDevice functions are not available in all countries.
