Installation, Ventilation and Safety Information

Installation space and recess requirements

  • The floor must be level, even and capable of bearing the appliance weight plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model net capacity.
  • Recess dimensions must be correctly measured; the top and carcass walls should line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick.
  • Because the recess is partially visible when the door is opened, the visible carcass surfaces should have a designed finish and minimum depth of 76 mm.
  • Appliance depth is 610 mm, allowing installation in standard European 610 mm units or deeper 635 mm cut–outs.
  • Inset installation dimensions: height 2029 mm, width 908 mm. Overlay installation dimensions: height 2032 mm, width 914 mm (plus panel overlap).
  • Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
  • The appliance should be left to stand for one hour in the installation location before switching on so fluids in the coolant and lubrication system can distribute evenly.

Plinth, ventilation and wall spacer

  • Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel; the door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor.
  • The grille in the plinth panel must not be obstructed.
  • Wall spacers / air separators supplied must be fitted to the appliance and door to separate warm outgoing air from fresh incoming air.
  • A 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panel is available as an optional accessory in widths matching the appliance or Side–by–Side combinations.
  • To achieve a plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; they can be raised by a maximum of 19 mm for higher plinth panels.

Side–by–Side and positioning options

  • The appliance can be installed as a stand–alone unit with hinge on left or right, or Side–by–Side with other Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets.
  • A Side–by–Side set is required if spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm or if installed Side–by–Side in separate units with dividing walls thinner than 102 mm.
  • A minimum spacing of 76 mm is required to avoid door and handle collisions for a 90° opening; for back–to–back door positioning opening to the centre, a minimum distance of 154 mm is required.
  • A 90° door opening limiter is included and can be fitted by inserting a peg in the hinge; the door opening angle is 115° as supplied.

Electrical safety

  • The appliance must be operated using alternating current within the permitted voltage and frequency for the relevant country.
  • Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected, not located behind the appliance and easily accessible.
  • A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or food spoilage caused by other appliances.
  • Risk of fatal electric shock: do not connect to unearthed sockets.
  • Fire hazard: do not use extension cables, multi–sockets or inverters to connect the appliance.

Water connection, IceMaker and water quality

  • Monolith appliances fitted with IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar.
  • Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used.
  • A shut–off valve must be installed between hose line and mains water supply, and must not be located behind the appliance.
  • Connection to the water supply must be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber.
  • Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations; the IceMaker is solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities.
  • If water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended; a filter must be used if solids such as sand are present.
  • All appliances with IceMaker have a water filter in the front section of the base; it must be replaced regularly and an InfinitySwipe alarm reminds when replacement is due.

Secure mounting and anti–tipping

The anti–tipping device positioned at the base must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent the appliance from tipping over after installation. Information in the installation instructions for secure mounting must be observed.
