Installation, Planning and Usage Details

Appliance and recess dimensions

For inset installation the height is 2029 mm with width 756 mm. For overlay installation the height is 2032 mm and width 762 mm, plus the overlap of the panel on the top and sides. Appliance depth is 610 mm, suitable for standard 610 mm units and deeper 635 mm cut–outs. Unit depth for overlay door panel installation is 635 mm; for inset door panel installation 635 mm plus the thickness of the custom panel.

Door panels and plinth

  • Thickness of the panel: minimum 16 mm* / maximum 30 mm; maximum panel weight 35 kg for this model.
  • Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
  • Door panels must end at least 102 mm above the floor to ensure plinth ventilation is not obstructed.
  • Adjustable feet are fully retracted at the minimum height. Raising the feet by 6–8 mm achieves a plinth height of 102 mm; maximum adjustment is 19 mm if a higher plinth is required.
  • Liebherr stainless steel plinth panels (102 mm high) are available as optional accessories in widths including 76.2 cm for model EGN 9471.
  • A decorative trim supplied with the appliance covers the gap between appliance and unit side walls.
  • If a five–piece shaker style panel thinner than 16 mm is used, shorter screws than those supplied must be used.

* Minimum panel thickness applies to standard one–piece panels.

Ventilation requirements

Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. The grille in the plinth must not be obstructed. Spacers included in the scope of supply must be fitted to the appliance and door to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air.

Installation space requirements

  • The floor must support the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218–544 kg of food, depending on net capacity.
  • The floor should be level; the appliance must be levelled so ventilation openings remain clear.
  • Recess dimensions must be measured correctly and the power socket located in the specified position.
  • The installation space between unit rear wall and kitchen wall allows routing of electricity, water and anti–tipping device; it can be reduced if required (for example, cut–out depth 610 mm).
  • The top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick.
  • Because the recess is partially visible when the door is open, the inside finish should match the outside of the unit and have a minimum depth of 76 mm.

Door spacing and opening angles

  • Factory door opening angle is 115° and can be limited to 90° using a door opening limiter supplied with the appliance.
  • To prevent doors and handles from colliding with adjacent units or walls, a minimum spacing of 76 mm must be allowed for a 90° opening.
  • For Side–by–Side installations in separate units with back–to–back door positioning and 90° limiters, a dividing wall of at least 154 mm is required to prevent handle collisions.
  • The minimum permitted gap between adjacent panels is 3 mm.

Side–by–Side installation

Monolith appliances are designed to be installed Side–by–Side with other Liebherr refrigerators, freezers and wine cabinets. If the spacing between units is less than 102 mm, a Side–by–Side set is required. For combinations of more than two units, different options are possible, including connected pairs plus a separate unit with a carcass side between them, or larger gaps (at least 102 mm or 154 mm) to avoid door and handle collisions.

Water connection for IceMaker

  • Appliances with IceMaker must be connected to a water supply; only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used.
  • Required water pressure is between 2.8 and 6.2 bar.
  • A shut–off valve must be installed between hose line and mains water supply and must not be located behind the appliance.
  • Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. A water softener is recommended if water hardness is high, and a filter should be used if solids such as sand are present.
  • The IceMaker is intended solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with water appropriate for this purpose.
  • Repairs and work on the IceMaker and InfinitySpring (where fitted) must only be carried out by customer service or other trained individuals.

Electrical safety and operation

  • The appliance must only be operated using alternating current within the permitted voltage and frequency for the country (220–240 V~/2.0 A for this model).
  • Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible; they must not be located directly behind the appliance.
  • Use of extension cables, multi–sockets or inverters is not permitted due to risk of overheating, fire or electrical hazard.
  • A separate circuit for the appliance is recommended to prevent unintentional defrosting caused by other devices.
  • The appliance should stand in the installation location for one hour before switching on to allow coolant and lubricant fluids to distribute evenly.
  • Secure mounting via the anti–tipping device at the base is mandatory.

Ambient temperature and climate class

The climate class SN–T allows operation between 10 °C and 43 °C ambient temperature. Operating the appliance outside this range is not permitted. Refrigerant circuits are checked for tightness and appliances comply with applicable safety regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the required recess dimensions for installing the EGN 9471?

The specified recess dimensions for the EGN 9471 are 213.4 cm (height), 76.2 cm (width) and 63.5 cm (depth). For inset installation use a height of 2029 mm and width of 756 mm; for overlay installation use 2032 mm height and 762 mm width plus the panel overlap.

Does the EGN 9471 need manual defrosting?

No. The EGN 9471 uses NoFrost technology with automatic defrosting. Cooled re–circulated air freezes food while removing humidity so the freezer compartment remains ice–free and manual defrosting is not necessary.

How much ice can the IceMaker produce and store?

The automatic IceMaker creates 1.6 kg of filtered ice in 24 hours. Depending on model, the storage volume is between 1.8 kg and 3.5 kg. Activating the SuperFrost function can increase ice production capacity.

What water pressure and connection are required for the IceMaker?

The IceMaker uses a fixed 3/4' water connection. Water pressure must be between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose provided with the appliance may be used, and a shut–off valve must be installed in an accessible position, not behind the appliance.

Can the door hinge of the EGN 9471 be reversed?

Yes. The EGN 9471 is supplied with a left door hinge that is reversible. Door reversal must be performed by an authorised Liebherr Monolith customer service engineer using a door hinge exchange set.

In what ambient temperature range can the EGN 9471 be operated?

The climate class SN–T permits operation between 10 °C and 43 °C ambient temperature. The appliance must not be operated outside of this temperature range.
