Installation, Ventilation and Safety

Installation space and positioning

  • The floor must support the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218–544 kg of food, depending on model.
  • The installation surface must be level, even and made from a hard, rigid material at the same height as the surrounding floor.
  • Recess dimensions must be accurately measured and the power socket positioned correctly and easily accessible.
  • Appliance height including packaging and pallet is 2285 mm; door heights on the transport route must accommodate this in a tilted position.
  • The appliance should stand for one hour in the installation location before switching on to allow coolant and lubrication fluids to distribute evenly.
  • Installations behind the appliance are not possible.

Recess and panel requirements

  • Top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick.
  • Because the recess is partially visible when the door is opened, inside finishes should match the unit surface with a minimum depth of 76 mm.
  • Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in 635 mm-deep units using stainless steel or customer-specific panels.
  • Custom panels must not exceed the maximum permitted panel weight; wood panels up to 25 mm thick may be used if this weight is not exceeded.
  • A decorative trim to cover the gap between appliance and side walls is included in the scope of supply.
  • The appliance depth of 610 mm allows installation in standard 610 mm-depth units and in deeper 635 mm cut-outs.

Plinth, ventilation and anti-tipping

  • Ventilation is entirely via the plinth panel; the door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the plinth grill must not be obstructed.
  • Wall spacers / air separators supplied must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air.
  • An optional stainless steel plinth panel 102 mm high is available in widths matching individual models and Side-by-Side combinations.
  • The anti-tipping device at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent the appliance from tipping over.

Side-by-Side and door spacing

  • Monolith appliances can be installed as stand-alone units or Side-by-Side in fitted or separate units.
  • If spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set is required.
  • To prevent collision with adjacent units, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required for a 90° door opening.
  • For back-to-back door positioning, a minimum spacing of 154 mm is necessary.
  • A 90° door opening limiter (supplied) can reduce the factory-set 115° maximum door opening.
  • The minimum permitted gap between panels is 4 mm.

Electrical safety

  • The appliance must be operated with alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the country.
  • Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected, not located behind the appliance and easily accessible for disconnection.
  • A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
  • Do not connect the appliance to unearthed sockets, extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters due to risks of electric shock and fire.

Water connection and IceMaker use

  • Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to the electrical socket.
  • A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply and must not be located behind the appliance.
  • Connection to the water supply must be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber, and water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations.
  • The IceMaker is for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with appropriate drinking water.
  • Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used for the IceMaker.
  • If water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended; a filter should be used if solids such as sand are present.
  • All devices and systems supplying water must meet applicable regional provisions.
  • All appliances with IceMaker have a water filter in the appliance base; it must be replaced regularly, and an InfinitySwipe alarm reminds you when replacement is due.
  • Repairs and work on the IceMaker must only be carried out by customer service or other trained individuals.

Ambient temperature use

The appliance is designed for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for making ice within the ambient temperature limits of climate class SN-T, from 10 °C to 43 °C. It must not be operated outside these ranges.
