The Liebherr Monolith EGN 9171 is a tall, integrated freezer designed for flush installation in premium kitchen cabinetry. At 45.7 cm width with NoFrost technology, IceMaker and InfinityLight, it offers efficient freezing and clear visibility of stored food. SoftSystem and SoftTelescopic features support gentle, convenient operation, while the InfinitySwipe electronic control and SuperFrost function provide precise temperature management and rapid freezing performance.
The floor must be capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus food (approx. minimum 218 kg to maximum 544 kg, depending on model). The floor should be level and the appliance must be supported or levelled at floor level so that ventilation openings remain clear. Recess dimensions at the installation location must be correctly measured, and the power socket must be in the correct position.
Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm, with stainless steel panels or customer-specific panels. The appliance depth is 610 mm, allowing installation in standard 610 mm deep fitted units or deeper 635 mm cut-outs. Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
For transport, door heights must be considered along the route with the appliance packed and tilted. The appliance should only be installed next to Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. If installed next to another brand, condensation or damage may occur.
For secure recess installation, the top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick. Because the recess is partially visible when the door is opened, the interior finish should match the unit surface at the top and sides with a minimum visible depth of 76 mm.
Customer-specific panels must not exceed the maximum permitted panel weight of 25 kg for this model and must be 16–30 mm thick. Materials made of wood up to 30 mm thickness may be used if the maximum panel weight is not exceeded. A decorative trim to cover the gap between the appliance and fitted unit side walls is included in the scope of supply.
For inset installation, door panel dimensions for inset panels must be used to achieve flush installation. For other installation options, door spacing requirements must be observed to determine door panel dimensions. The minimum permitted gap between panels is 3 mm.
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor, and the plinth panel grill must not be obstructed. Spacers supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air.
Liebherr offers optional 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panels, available in widths matching Monolith models and Side-by-Side combinations from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm. The plinth panel depth position can be varied and is assembled using a pre-assembled adhesive joint on the appliance.
The appliance must be installed so that doors, including handles, do not collide with adjoining cupboards, worktops, walls or other elements when opened. The factory-set door opening angle is 115°. If collision is possible, a 90° door opening limiter (included in the scope of supply) can be fitted by inserting a peg into the hinge.
To prevent the door and handle from colliding with adjacent structures at 90° opening, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required. In Side-by-Side configurations, larger spacings may be required depending on door orientation and handle positioning.
Other possible solutions include reducing door panel thickness if greater than 19 mm, repositioning the colliding element, or using a stopper to prevent damage to adjoining walls or units.
Monolith appliances can be installed as individual stand-alone units, Side-by-Side in a single fitted unit, or Side-by-Side in separate units. If the distance between two integrated units is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set is required. For three-unit combinations, two Side-by-Side sets may be used, with options for dividing walls or wider spacings to prevent door and handle collisions.
For back-to-back door positioning with a 90° door opening limiter, a minimum spacing of 154 mm is required to ensure handles do not collide when doors open towards the centre. A dividing wall of at least 16 mm thickness is necessary where separate recesses are used.
The IceMaker requires a water connection via the supplied hose to a mains supply with water pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and the mains water supply and must not be located behind the appliance. The water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. The IceMaker is intended solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with appropriate water.
Connection to the water supply must only be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber. All devices and systems supplying water to the appliance must meet local provisions. All models with IceMaker have a water filter in the front section of the appliance base; this must be replaced regularly. An InfinitySwipe alarm reminds users when the water filter needs replacing.
The appliance must be operated using alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the country of use. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible; they must not be located behind the appliance. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent food spoilage caused by failures from other appliances.
Do not connect the appliance to unearthed power sockets, extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters. There is a risk of overheating, fire or fatal electric shock if these warnings are not observed. Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket.
The appliance is intended for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for making ice. It is designed for operation within the SN–T climate class ambient temperature range of 10 °C to 43 °C. The appliance must not be operated outside this range.
Before switching on after installation, the appliance should stand for one hour in the installation location to allow fluids in the coolant and lubrication system to distribute evenly.
An anti-tipping device positioned at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent the appliance from tipping. Adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height; the appliance height is raised by turning the feet from the front after positioning in the recess so that it comes into contact with the anti-tipping device.
To achieve a minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6–8 mm. For higher plinth panels, the feet can be raised by up to 19 mm.
The appliance dimensions are 212.6 cm (H) x 45 cm (W) x 61 cm (D). The recess dimensions are 213.4 cm (H) x 45.7 cm (W) x 63.5 cm (D). For inset installation, the height is 2029 mm and width 451 mm; for overlay installation, height is 2032 mm and width 457 mm (plus overlap).
Yes. The integrated IceMaker uses a fixed 3/4' water connection. Water pressure must be between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and the mains water supply, and the connection must be carried out by a trained and licensed plumber.
Manual defrosting is not required. The NoFrost system uses cooled re-circulated air to keep the freezer compartment ice-free and remove humidity, so the compartment and stored food remain free of frost and defrosting is no longer necessary.
The EGN 9171 has energy efficiency class C with an energy consumption of 311 kWh per year (0.851 kWh per 24 hours). The noise output is 37 dB(A), with noise class C.
The appliance is supplied with a left-hand door hinge that is reversible. Door hinge reversal must be performed by authorised Liebherr Monolith customer service. A door hinge exchange set is available as an accessory for hinge changes.
Yes. The EGN 9171 can be installed Side-by-Side with other Monolith refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. If the spacing between integrated units is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set with sidewall heater, brackets, screws and decorative trim is required. Additional spacing requirements apply to prevent door and handle collisions.
