Installation and Usage Details

Installation guidance

The unit is designed for flush installation in a worktop and can be combined with suitable Gaggenau cooktops in a single worktop cut-out or in two separate cut-outs for surface mounting. For flush installation in a single cut-out with frameless cooktops, the installation accessory VA 200 090 must be placed between the appliances to provide a connection strip and furniture supports for cabinet stability.

For surface-mounted installations with induction cooktops in two separate cut-outs, installation accessory AA 200 900 is required. The table ventilation can be installed in a cabinet or between two cabinets, for example in an island installation deeper than 100 cm. The bearing capacity and stability of thinner worktops must be supported with suitable substructures, taking into account appliance weight and additional loads.

Installation is possible in worktops made of stone, synthetics or solid wood, observing heat resistance and watertight sealing of the cut edges. For other materials, the worktop manufacturer should be consulted. Whatever the installation situation, the fan unit should always remain accessible.

Clearances and safety spacing

  • No upper cabinets should be installed above the table ventilation to maintain optimum performance.
  • Maintain 65 cm distance from the table ventilation to open shelves.
  • Maintain 50 cm distance left and right from the table ventilation to walls or neighbouring tall cabinets.
  • Maintain 5 cm distance from the table ventilation frame to the wall.
  • Maintain 2 cm distance from the Guided Air suction area to a cabinet wall.

Air extraction and recirculation

In air extraction mode, a one-way flap with a maximum opening pressure of 65 Pa should be installed. When operating in air extraction mode at the same time as a chimney-vented fireplace, adequate fresh air must always be ensured in the room.

For air recirculation, an air recirculation module is required. For optimum performance in air recirculation mode, an outflow surface area of at least 400 cm² is recommended. The activated charcoal filter for air recirculation is easily removable from above.

Fan unit placement

The fan unit can be installed flexibly at the front for a compact wall solution, at the back without loss of drawer space, or at a distance from the appliance. To install the fan unit at a distance, installation kit AA 200 910 is required, which includes spare covers for closing air outlets. The maximum distance between the table ventilation and the fan unit is 3 m.

Operation and maintenance

  • Three electronically controlled power levels and an intensive mode are available.
  • An automatic function with sensor-controlled run-on continues ventilation after cooking.
  • Grease filter saturation indicator and activated charcoal filter saturation indicator help to schedule filter maintenance.
  • The two large-scale metal grease filters are easy to remove and are dishwasher-safe.
  • The WiFi module can be switched off as described in the user manual (detailed instructions Not stated in source).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the AL200190 be completely hidden when not in use?

Yes. When not in use, the table ventilation can be completely lowered into the worktop, blending elegantly into the surface for a discreet appearance.

Which cooktops is the AL200190 designed to work with?

It offers a perfect cooking and ventilation combination with frameless induction cooktops 90 cm wide for flush mounting in a single worktop cut-out. It is compatible with frameless cooktops 400 series (CX 492) or 200 series (CI 292) for flush installation, and with induction cooktops 400 series (CX 492 / VI 492) or 200 series (CI 292) for surface-mounted installation using the specified accessories.

Does the AL200190 support air recirculation as well as extraction?

Yes. The appliance can operate in air extraction or air recirculation mode. For air recirculation, an air recirculation module is required, and optional activated charcoal filters are available. Air recirculation performance is specified at 472 / 620 m³/h with standard activated filters.

What smart features are available with Home Connect?

Selected digital services via Home Connect include cooktop-based ventilation control (with a suitable cooktop), remote control and monitoring, and remote diagnostics. Availability of Home Connect functionality depends on the availability of Home Connect Services in the country.

How is maintenance of the filters managed?

The appliance includes a grease filter saturation indicator and an activated charcoal filter saturation indicator. Two large-scale metal grease filters are supplied as standard and are easy to remove and dishwasher-safe. The activated charcoal filter for recirculation is easily removable from above.

What safety or planning considerations apply to installation?

No upper cabinets should be installed above the unit. Specific minimum distances to shelves, walls and tall cabinets must be observed, and in air extraction mode adequate fresh air must be ensured if a chimney-vented fireplace is operating at the same time. The equivalent ducting length Lmax 28 m is recommended to ensure good performance.
