Additional Details and Installation

Installation options

  • Designed for flush mounting in a single worktop cut-out with compatible frameless cooktops (CX 482, CI 282, CI 283).
  • For a single worktop cut-out, an installation accessory with connection strip and furniture supports must be placed between appliances to ensure cabinet stability.
  • For surface mounting in two separate worktop cut-outs, use induction cooktops CX 482 / VI 482 or CI 282 / CI 283 with accessory AA 200 900.
  • Can be installed within a cabinet or between two cabinets, for example in an island installation deeper than 100 cm.
  • Fan unit can be positioned at the front (compact wall solution), at the back (without loss of drawer space), or at a distance using kit AA 200 910.
  • Whatever the installation situation, the fan unit should always remain accessible.

Clearances and planning notes

  • No upper cabinets should be installed above the table ventilation.
  • Maintain at least 65 cm from the table ventilation to open shelves.
  • Maintain at least 50 cm to the left and right of the table ventilation to a wall or neighbouring tall cabinets.
  • Maintain at least 5 cm from the table ventilation frame to the wall.
  • Maintain at least 2 cm from the Guided Air suction area to a cabinet wall.
  • The bearing capacity and stability of thin worktops must be supported by suitable substructures, taking appliance weight and additional loads into account.
  • In air extraction mode, ensure adequate fresh air supply if operating simultaneously with a chimney-vented fireplace.

Air extraction and recirculation

  • For air extraction, a one-way flap with maximum opening pressure of 65 Pa should be installed.
  • For optimum performance in air recirculation, an outflow surface area of at least 400 cm² is recommended.
  • An air recirculation module is required for recirculation operation.
  • Activated charcoal filter is easily removable from above when using the air recirculation system.

Filters and maintenance

  • 2 large-scale metal grease filters are included, designed to be easy to remove and dishwasher-safe.
  • Grease filter saturation indicator signals when cleaning is required.
  • Activated charcoal filter saturation indicator supports timely replacement in recirculation mode.
  • Overflow protection: 170 ml capacity in the grease filter and 600 ml in the remote fan unit.

Controls and connectivity

  • One user interface for setting power levels and a separate user interface for Guided Air technology.
  • Automatic function with sensor-controlled run-on function for continued ventilation.
  • Selected digital services via Home Connect, including cooktop-based ventilation control with suitable cooktop, remote control, monitoring and remote diagnostics.
  • Integrated WiFi module for digital services; availability of functionality depends on Home Connect services in the country.
  • WiFi module can be switched off; instructions are provided in the user manual.

Worktop and materials

  • Installation is possible in worktops made of stone, synthetics or solid wood.
  • Heat resistance and watertight sealing of cut edges must be observed.
  • For other materials, the worktop manufacturer should be consulted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the AL200180 be completely hidden when not in use?

Yes. When not in use it can be completely lowered into the worktop, so it blends elegantly into the worktop and kitchen space.

Which cooktops are compatible with this table ventilation?

It is designed for combination with Gaggenau frameless induction cooktops: 400 series (CX 482 / VI 482) and 200 series (CI 282 / CI 283), using either a single flush-mounted cut-out or two separate cut-outs for surface mounting.

Does the AL200180 support air recirculation as well as extraction?

Yes. It offers both air extraction and air recirculation. For recirculation, an air recirculation module and an activated charcoal filter are required, and an outflow surface area of at least 400 cm² is recommended.

How loud is the AL200180 during operation?

In normal mode the sound level ranges from 39 dB (minimum) to 62 dB (maximum). At output level 3 / Intensive, the sound power level is 62 / 70 dB(A) re 1 pW in extraction and 65 / 70 dB(A) re 1 pW in recirculation.

What digital functions are available via Home Connect?

Selected digital services include cooktop-based ventilation control with a suitable cooktop, remote control and monitoring, and remote diagnostics. An integrated WiFi module is provided, and functionality depends on availability of Home Connect services in the country.

What installation clearances should be observed around the unit?

There should be no upper cabinets above the unit. Maintain 65 cm to open shelves above, 50 cm left and right to walls or tall cabinets, 5 cm from the frame to the wall, and 2 cm from the Guided Air suction area to a cabinet wall.
