Installation and Ventilation Requirements

Proper ventilation is essential for efficient operation and to support the lifespan of the minibar. The cooling process generates heat at the condenser fins on the back, which must be transferred to the ambient air through sufficient airflow.

General placement

  • Place the minibar on a stable surface that is level in both directions.
  • Do not position it directly near a heat source, in direct sunlight, next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
  • The mains plug/socket must be freely accessible once installed.

Ventilation for built-in installation (fridges & minibars)

  • There must be free circulation of air around the cooling unit.
  • During cooling, heat generated at the back must be able to escape; otherwise cooling performance drops and energy consumption rises.
  • For standard absorption, compressor and thermoelectric fridges, leave a minimum 20 mm distance between the cooling unit and the furniture wall.
  • For built-in versions, as a guideline add 15 mm to height, 30 mm to width and 20 mm to depth to calculate the cavity dimensions.
  • Never cover ventilation grills or slots.
  • The outflow air vent must exit into free space in the room and must not vent into an enclosed space such as a cupboard, case good or ceiling void.

Specific ventilation for HiPro compressor minibars

For HiPro Absorption and Compressor minibars (including C40 models):

  • Free ventilation space for incoming air should be at least 150 cm².
  • Free ventilation space for outgoing air should be at least 200 cm².
  • Ventilation must follow a chimney-like flow from air inlet (below the unit) to air outlet (above the unit), as shown in installation alternatives A, B, C or D.
  • The entire cooling unit should protrude into the ventilation duct.
  • Air passing through the duct must not be preheated by any source of heat.
  • Ventilation grills, if used, must provide at least the specified free opening for incoming and outgoing air.
  • Side ventilation must be avoided in all cases; use inlet below and outlet above.

Important installation information

  • The refrigerator must be level in both directions.
  • There should be 20 mm clearance to the wall behind the cooling unit for standard fridges.
  • Ventilation must be provided as shown in alternatives A, B, C or D with both inflow and outflow vents.
  • The ventilation duct must at least measure 105 mm × the width of the refrigerator (for the systems where this is specified).
  • Only the entire cooling unit should project into the duct.
  • Air entering the duct must be cool ambient air; it must not be heated beforehand.
  • Ventilation grills, if used, must have openings of at least 200 cm² each for many applications listed.

Product warranty is only valid if the minibar is installed, used and maintained as described in the product manuals and in accordance with the stated guidelines and applicable laws and regulations.
