Installation and Ventilation Requirements

To ensure optimum cooling performance, minimum energy consumption and a long lifespan, the minibar must be installed with sufficient ventilation and on a stable, level surface.

General positioning

  • Place the minibar on a surface that is level in both directions.
  • Do not place the fridge in direct sunlight or next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
  • The mains plug/socket must be freely accessible once the fridge has been installed.

Ventilation for HiPro absorption minibars

The heat extracted from the interior is emitted at the back of the minibar. There must be free circulation of air around the cooling unit to prevent hot air build‑up, which would reduce cooling capacity, increase energy consumption and shorten lifespan.

  • Free ventilation space for incoming air for HiPro absorption minibars (such as the A40S) should be at least 150 cm².
  • Free ventilation space for outgoing air should be at least 200 cm².
  • The air inlet should be positioned below the unit and the air outlet above, creating a chimney‑like vertical airflow; side ventilation must be avoided.
  • Air passing through the ventilation duct must not be warmed by any other heat source.
  • If ventilation grills are used, they must provide the minimum free openings for incoming and outgoing air specified above.

Built‑in furniture installation

When building the minibar into furniture, correct cavity dimensions and rear clearance are required for efficient airflow.

  • Leave a minimum distance of 20 mm between the cooling unit at the back and the furniture wall.
  • As a guideline for built‑in versions, add 15 mm to height, 30 mm to width and 20 mm to depth of the fridge to obtain cavity dimensions.
  • The ventilation duct should at least measure 105 mm times the width of the refrigerator, with the entire cooling unit projecting into the duct only.
  • It is advised to cut a hole in the back of the furniture where the fridge is situated to maximise airflow.
  • Never cover ventilation grills or slots, and ensure the out‑flow air vent exits into free space in the room, not into an enclosed void.

Toe‑kick and air inlet options

For absorption, compressor and thermoelectric minibars, suitable air inlets can be created in the lower furniture area.

  • Minimum free air inlet area of 200 cm² for cool air to enter for standard fridges.
  • The inlet can be achieved by a cut‑out, series of slots, a grill or an arched opening in the toe‑kick.
  • Maintain the free air space from the inlet through to the outlet, where there should again be at least 200 cm² free air outlet.

Product warranty is only valid if the minibar is installed, used and maintained as described in the installation manual and in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
