Installation and Ventilation Requirements

Proper ventilation is essential to ensure correct cooling performance, reduced energy consumption and a long lifespan. Heat generated at the condenser fins on the back of the minibar must be transferred to the ambient air via sufficient airflow.

Basic positioning

Place the minibar on a stable surface that is level in both directions.
Avoid positioning it in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as radiators, windows or curtains.
Never cover ventilation grills or slots.

Clearances and cavity guidance

Leave at least 20 mm clearance to the wall at the rear of the fridge; only the cooling unit should project into the duct.
As a guideline for built-in versions, add 15 mm to the height, 30 mm to the width and 20 mm to the depth to obtain cavity dimensions (dimensions must also conform to ventilation requirements).
The ventilation duct should measure at least 105 mm by the width of the refrigerator.
The mains plug/socket must remain freely accessible once the fridge is installed.
Side ventilation must be avoided; air inlet should be below the unit and outlet above it in a chimney-like flow.

Ventilation openings – standard guidance

For absorption, compressor and thermoelectric minibars in general:

Provide at least a 200 cm² free air inlet for cool air to enter and a 200 cm² free air outlet for warm air to escape.
Inlet vents can be created by a cut-out, series of slots, a grill or an arched opening in the toe kick.
Ventilation grills, if used, must provide openings of at least 200 cm² each for standard minibars.
Air passing through the duct must not be preheated by any external heat source.

Ventilation for HiPro Absorption and Compressor minibars

For HiPro Absorption and Compressor minibars specifically:

Minimum free ventilation space for incoming air: 150 cm².
Minimum free ventilation space for outgoing air: 200 cm².
Between the minibar’s back (including the cooling unit) and the surrounding structure: at least 15–40 mm.
Between the minibar’s sides and surrounding structure: 2 mm.
Between the minibar’s top surface and surrounding structure: 3 mm.

The outflow air vent must exit into free space in the room and must not vent into an enclosed space such as a cupboard, case good or ceiling void, as trapped heat will impair performance and efficiency.
