Installation and Ventilation Information

Proper ventilation is essential to maintain cooling performance, minimise energy consumption and extend the lifespan of the minibar. Heat generated at the condenser fins on the back of the unit must be transferred to the ambient air through sufficient airflow.

General installation guidance

• The minibar must be placed on a stable surface that is level in both directions.
• The refrigerator should have at least 20 mm clearance to the wall at the rear.
• Only the entire cooling unit should project into the ventilation duct.
• Air passing through the ventilation duct must not be preheated by any source of heat.
• The mains plug/socket must remain freely accessible once the minibar has been installed.
• Do not place the minibar in direct sunlight or next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
• Never cover ventilation grills or slots.

Ventilation requirements for HiPro absorption minibars

For HiPro absorption and compressor minibars, the free ventilation space for incoming air should be at least 150 cm² and for outgoing air at least 200 cm². Ventilation must be arranged in a chimney-like flow of air, with the air inlet below the unit and the air outlet above.

• Air inlet (for HiPro absorption and compressor minibar models including A30): at least 150 cm² free opening.
• Air outlet: at least 200 cm² free opening.
• Side ventilation must be avoided; ventilation openings should not be placed on the sides.
• The free ventilation space for incoming and outgoing air must exit into free space in the room, not into an enclosed void.

Furniture integration and cavity sizing

When building the minibar into furniture, it is important to ensure free circulation of air around the cooling unit. To calculate typical cavity dimensions for built-in Dometic fridges as a guideline, add 15 mm to the product height, 30 mm to the width and 20 mm to the depth. Dimensions must conform together with the ventilation requirements.

• Leave a minimum 20 mm distance between the cooling unit and the furniture wall.
• A hole in the back of the surrounding furniture is advised to maximise airflow.
• For standard absorption, compressor and thermoelectric minibars, the fridge needs at least a 200 cm² free air inlet and 200 cm² free air outlet in typical guidance.
• Inlet vents can be created using a cut-out, slots, a grill, or an arched opening in the toe kick.
• Ventilation grills, if used, must have openings of at least 200 cm² each (400 cm² for DM50 drawer minibar as noted).
