Installation and Ventilation Requirements

Proper installation and ventilation are essential to ensure efficient operation, optimum cooling performance and to help extend the lifespan of the minibar. The heat extracted from the interior is emitted at the back of the unit, so free airflow must be maintained around the cooling unit.

Positioning and levelling

• Place the minibar on a stable surface that is level in both directions.
• Do not place the fridge in direct sunlight, or next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
• The mains plug/socket must be freely accessible once the fridge has been installed.
• Product warranty is only valid if installed as described in the installation manual.

Clearances and cavity guidance

• At the rear of the fridge, leave a minimum 20 mm distance between the cooling unit and the furniture wall.
• For built-in versions, as a guideline, add 15 mm to the height, 30 mm to the width and 20 mm to the depth to obtain cavity dimensions.
• Only the entire cooling unit should project into the ventilation duct.
• Place the fridge 10 mm inside the furniture door, with dimensions conforming to the ventilation requirements.

Ventilation for Dometic minibars

For HiPro Absorption and Compressor minibars such as this model, the free ventilation space for incoming air should be at least 150 cm² and for outgoing air at least 200 cm². Air inlet should be positioned below the unit and air outlet above, creating a chimney-like airflow.

• Ventilation must be provided in a chimney-like flow of air (alternatives A, B, C or D as indicated by the manufacturer).
• Air passing through the duct must not be preheated or warmed by any heat source.
• Side ventilation must be avoided; neither air inlet nor outlet should be on the sides.
• Ventilation grills, if used, must have free openings matching the required incoming and outgoing air areas.

General ventilation notes

• The fridge needs at least a 200 cm² free air inlet for cool air to enter in standard guidance for fridges.
• Provide a corresponding free air outlet of at least 200 cm² for warm air to escape to the ambient air.
• There should be at least 20 mm clearance to the wall behind the unit.
• The ventilation duct must measure at least 105 mm by the width of the refrigerator.
• Air inlet and outlet vents can be created via cut-outs, slots, grills or arched openings in the toe kick.
• Never cover ventilation grills or slots, and ensure the outflow air vent exits into free space in the room, not into an enclosed void.
