Location - This Parador is the former convent of San Francisco which was built in 1596. It has 16 beautiful courtyards with galleries. The town of Almagro stands on the wide plain of La Mancha. Ii is an important milestone on the route that Don Quixote took as described by Cervantes. The town is also universally famous for its lace.The famous Plaza Mayor and the corral de las comedias (its theatre) gives Almagro its character.
Restaurant - The cuisine of the region includes dishes as outstanding as El PistoManchego (a hot vegetable dish based on marrow and tomatoes), El Monje, Las Migas(fried bread crumbs), El Tiznazo(cured braided lamb tripe) and los Galianos. Cheese of La Mancha is famous all over the world. The pickled aubergine is another typical speciality, a direct legacy of the Moors.
