• Exterior - Typical of a building the 80s, the 24 storey building is tiled in tan color with a distinctive series of invert U shape roofline like the open palm of the hand with the fingers in profile. This is in keeping with the Chinese belief of geomancy (Feng Shui), whereby the open hand is a symbol to ward away evil.
• General - With fully renovated rooms, the hotel is giving an even more value-for-money experience. Located in the lively Chinatown area and close to the historical Singapore River, the hotel has yet a another plus point in the form of a new underground (MRT) stop at Chintown or Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay is itself a attraction by the river with its many restaurants and pubs.AC 3/03
• Lobby - The interior of the hotel unlike the exterior is well upkept well appointed finishing. The reception area is finished in marble with light wood. Carpets are in blue with a generous seating/waiting area. The Heritage Bar in the rear offers a little pit stop before coming or going.
• Location - Situated at the East end yet within a 5 minute walk to the centre of Chinatown, the Furama hotel is also a short stroll away from the waterholes of Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. The financial district is also within walking distance.
• Restaurant - The Furama Palace (Cantonese), Se Ra Bel (Korean) and the Tiffany Coffeehouse (International) dining restaurants are all fully renovated. Teh represent good value for money dining. Being in the bustling Chinatown area, good restaurants also abound within walking distance.
• Rooms - The rooms are newly renovated (2003) with a modern touch with light earth tones in bright sunny rooms. Furnishing in light woods are well kept. High floors offer good views of the city, Chinatown and the sea. The beds are in white with white duvet. Bathroom are tiled with black countertop. Some rooms come with seperate standing shower.
