- Exterior - The hotel is an impressive white-brick building, built to a traditional style.
- General - The Hodson Bay is one of the finest hotels in central ireland and is suitable for any groups or fits wishing to explore the inland region. The leisure centre is very well equipped and and the hotel has its own luxury cruiser. Malcolm lindop october 1998
- Lobby - The lobby is large and grand with open spaces and plenty of seating areas.
- Location - The hotel is situated a few miles from Athlone on the shores of lough ree. The Athlone course surrounds the property which faces the waterfront,where it has its own jetty, boats and watersports centre.
- Restaurant - L'escale restaurant is one of the finest in the Irish midlands and is highly regarded. It is quite grand and prestigious.
- Rooms - All the rooms are medium in size and decorated to a high standard. The bathroomd are also in excellent condition.
