- Exterior - Modern, red brick building with welcoming greenery.
- General - Close to all the famous tourist landmarks in York - Minster, city walls, Shambles, Clifford's Tower, Jorvik Centre and Castle Museum - the Monkbar hotel is a good quality, central hotel.ML 02/01
- Lobby - The lobby is medium in size with traditional decor.
- Location - Situated in the heart of the medieval city, the hotel is just outside Monk Bar, less than 300 yards from York Minster.
- Restaurant - The Cloisters Restaurant offers both a la carte and table d'hote menus, whilst the informal Bistro has a budget menu. There is also a coffe shop and two bars.
- Rooms - The rooms are all well appointed and decorated in a traditional style. All rooms have TV, alarm clock, telephone, hair dryer, trouser press and tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms are in a good condition.
