- Lobby - The lobby is very elegant and features many fine examples of art nouveau decor. There is a magnificent oak staircase and Gallery with original stained glass windows, fine oak panelling, frescoes and murals.
- Location - This hotel was built in 1897 for a well known york Mill owner. The hotel is situated just a ten minute walk from the centre of york and is perfectly situated for both the city and the surrounding countryside.
- Restaurant - The knavesmire restaurant offers a fine selection of English and continental cuisine. There is also a bar.
- Rooms - Medium in size, the decor is quite simple the rooms are very comfortable.
