Exterior - Originally built in 1740 as a coaching inn and maintained its reputation of excellent hospitality and attentive service. The hotel is very cosy.

Lobby - The lobby area is small and very elegantly decorated. The public areas have elegant sofas and cosy log fires.There are also ornate ceilings marbled pillars, palms and extensive wood panelling.
Location - The hotel is situted in the centre of Harrogate situated next to the Royal pump room, which was popular with gentry in the 19th century.
Restaurant - The ripley restaurant serves fine cuisine both seasonal and fixed menus. On weekend evenings and sunday lunchtimes dinners are served.
Rooms - The bedrooms are very elegantly furnished with very traditional fabrics. All rooms have full facilities, they are medium in size and decorated to a good condition.
