- Exterior - This is a traditional building, built in the early 1800's and converted into a country house hotel in 1969. The hotel is set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland.
- General - A very impressive hotel which is described in the brochure as more of a stately home than a hotel. (0400/0700KA)

- Location - The hotel is situated just 10 minutes from the M6 motorway, on the shores of Lake Ullswater in the heart of the Lake District.
- Restaurant - Guest can use the cocktail bar, sitting rooms and conservatory for aperitifs before moving on to the elegant Regency dining room where an extensive table d'hote menu is served.
- Rooms - The rooms are medium in size with classic style decor and maintained to a high standard. All rooms have full facilities and almost half, have their own private balcony or terrace. The rooms at the front of the house have views over looking the lake and the backdrop of rugged fells beyond.
