- General - This superior tourist property is the newest in Carlisle and is situated in the heart of the city centre. The hotel was formerly the 'Red Lion,' which was the very first hotel in the city. It was built over 200 years ago. The hotel has 84 rooms all with Bath and shower, direct dial telephones, satellite channels and hospitality trays. It has a coffee lounge and a cocktail bar. There is also a traditional 'free house' pub. The carvery restaurant is set in the hotel's old stable block. It is very comfortable, but very small. 27february 1993.
