In the summer the hotel opens its rooftop terrace where guests can relax, sunbathe or simply enjoy the spectacular view of the Duomo which appears almost close enough to touch. A family-run, centrally located 2-star property, the Romagna Hotel is no more than a couple of hundred meters from the 'Duomo', Florence`s world-famous Cathedral. In fact, most of this artistically renowned, and acclaimed, city is within a few minutes` walk from the hotel. However, if it`s bargain-hunting you`re into, the famous city market of San Lorenzo is just around the corner. All 18 rooms feature a small balcony and are air-conditioned with private bath, TV and telephone. A continental buffet-style breakfast is available to all guests who, on balmy summer evenings can also enjoy an aperitif from the hotel bar in the calmness of the small terrace garden. When is a 2 star hotel not a 2 star hotel? When it is the Nuova Italia ! Though officially classified as such, the Viti family offer much more than even a higher class hotel. Mrs Viti is a native English speaker and is a one-woman tourist office offering free help and information to all guests. While the hotel itself looks brand new having been recently renovated, the building is 17th century and is centrally located near the renaissance church of San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapels. Rooms are high standard with private bathrooms, direct dial telephones, satellite TV, air conditioning and airport windows, in other words, highly sound proofed. There is no lift but ground floor rooms are available.The Hotel Nuova Italia is the best example of a home-away-from-home hotel. |
