Surrounding Area

This hotel is located at Newby Bridge, which is at the southern end of Lake Windermere. It is 6 miles from Bowness and Windermere station. The ever-popular Windermere cruise yachts operate from just outside the Hotel, as does a Steam Locomotive offering trips to the local village of Haverthwaite some 10 miles further south.

Property Information

The hotel is a beautiful traditional hotel, which has been completely refurbished to a very high standard. It enjoys a lake frontage with private gardens running down to the lakeshore.

Dining Facilities

The hotel has two restaurants one is informal and modern in design with nearly everything in the restaurant being white in colour. This is very unusual for the Lake District but it offers a more contemporary dining experience within a traditional hotel. The other restaurant is more formal and slightly more expensive. It offers more traditional surroundings in which to dine on an excellent selection of well-prepared British cuisine. The hotel also has a large conservatory, which overlooks the lake and is suitable for light snacks or pre dinner drinks.

The lobby area is small; it is traditionally decorated with a main theme being Beatrix Potter, who lived in Windermere. The other public areas are well appointed and are luxuriously decorated. They are in the style of a Georgian Country House with a large grandfather clock overlooking, oil paintings, dark wood panelling, traditionally carved chairs and richly coloured fabrics.
